When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.
1 Corinthians 13:11
So my question is when does a boy become a man? in some cultures back in the day, especially in the Mediterranean, a boy became a man when he had a full beard. Unfortunately, i would still be a little boy if i lived in these times, as my facial hair is severely lacking.
Some people claim that you join the ranks of ‘manly hood’ when you first have sex. Well if this were the case 60% of 15 year old boys in the US could be considered men. Maybe in the past when people married at the ages of 15 and supported their wife and were expected to have children…… then maybe sex was how you joined the ranks of manly hood. But today, in a world were pre-marital sex (especially in teens) is rampant, and pretty much acceptable, Sex is definitely how you classify a man from a boy.
So the question remains….. when does a boy become a man? I dont have the exact answer, not even a close answer….. and i dont really think anyone can pin point a specific point in the general population. the only way i can explain it is…. well…. when you know you know.
